We were at CSIA 2026 conference, and it was a conversation worth having.
The 2026 Control System Integrators Association (CSIA) brought together some of the sharpest minds in control system integration at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor. For Octopus Digital, it was an opportunity to engage directly with the system integrators navigating the most pressing challenges in industrial operations today, and to share the work we’ve been doing to help them solve those challenges at scale.
Our team spent May 6th at Booth #23, talking through the problems system integrators are facing across their projects right now. Multi-site deployments. Growing pressure to deliver faster. The gap between data that flows and data that actually drives decisions.
The conversations reinforced something we already knew: the best system integrators are raising the bar on what integration can deliver for their clients. The demand for architectures that are reusable, vendor-agnostic, and built to scale has never been stronger.
Octopus Digital Founder, Bakhtiar Wain presented a technical session on ‘Decoupling Industrial Intelligence: A Framework for Unified IT/OT Convergence Using Azure-Native Primitives.’
The session tackled a problem that has held industrial operations back for years. IT has evolved significantly over the past decade, moving toward open, scalable, composable architectures. OT has not kept pace. Proprietary historians still dominate. Vendor lock-in restricts innovation. Storage remains tightly coupled with analytics. The result is a growing gap that limits what system integrators can deliver for their clients.
Bakhtiar’s session made the case that this gap is no longer a technology problem. Cloud storage, scalable compute, native ingestion pipelines, and open APIs are all available today. The barrier is legacy thinking, and it is time to move past it.
